Chemeketa Community College has launched a brand new accounting certificate that focuses on Data Analytics.  Chemeketa is the first in the state to offer the data analytics for accounting certificate. The new certificate provides students with the skills necessary for employment and growth in the accounting profession.  Students will enhance their accounting skills by using accounting data to analyze, process, and communicate essential business information in ways that benefit and improve business operations and outcomes.  This 39 credit certificate is one of four accounting pathway certificates that can also be used toward completing a 90 credit AAS Accounting degree.

“Data-analytics is the future. Across all industries, the use of data is a critical component to the success of an organization,” said Robin Taylor, Chemeketa’s Dean of Business and Technology programs. “Chemeketa’s new Data Analytics for Accounting Certificate of Completion is perfect for people new to the workforce or for those looking for a competitive advantage as they move up in their career.”

The evolution of financial analysis to data analytics requires new skills to expand financial analysis, and take the process a step further to data analytics.  Data analytics is quickly becoming an essential skill for accounting professionals.  Chemeketa’s program is designed for current accountants who want to enhance their skillset as well as new students wishing to get into the field of accounting.
