Historic investment strengthens long-term support for McMinnville’s business community

The McMinnville Area Chamber of Commerce has officially closed on the purchase of a building at 1215 NE Baker Street, marking a historic milestone for the organization. For the first time in its 110-year history, the Chamber will own its own building.

Located along Highway 99W, McMinnville’s primary commercial corridor, the new property represents a long-term investment in stability, visibility, and service to the city’s business community. The Chamber plans to transition into the space in late spring 2026, following a thoughtful and coordinated transition.

“This is a defining moment for the Chamber and for the business community we serve,” said John Olson, President & CEO of the McMinnville Area Chamber of Commerce. “Owning our building provides long-term stability and ensures the Chamber remains a strong, accessible, and effective advocate for McMinnville businesses for decades to come.”

The new facility offers approximately twice the space of the Chamber’s current office and will significantly expand its capacity to serve members and the public. Planned benefits of the new location include expanded meeting and training space, improved accessibility and parking, additional rental space available for Chamber members, and a more visible and welcoming home for the McMinnville Visitor Center.

While the Chamber has historically leased space in downtown McMinnville, the move reflects its communitywide mission to support a strong local economy and serve businesses throughout McMinnville and Yamhill County.

“While we will miss being located in the downtown core, this move strengthens our ability to fulfill our mission and serve as a voice for all McMinnville businesses—wherever they operate in our community,” Olson added. “A stable, well-positioned Chamber benefits the entire local economy.”

The decision to purchase the property was unanimously approved by the Chamber’s Board of Directors and aligns with a long-term vision focused on financial stewardship, organizational stability, and expanded service to members.

The Chamber expressed gratitude to MV Advancements for providing a valued transitional home and for being a trusted community partner.

Additional details regarding the transition and opportunities for community engagement will be shared in the coming months.
