This month’s All Star spotlight is on Marie Gwilliam of Serendipity Ice Cream!

Serendipity Ice Cream is part of Mid-Valley Rehabilitation, a not-for-profit organization that provides residential, employment and alternatives to employment services to adults with developmental disabilities. Serendipity is a vocational training site where individuals with disabilities learn janitorial, dishwashing, food prep and customer service skills. These skills are highly beneficial, because work is usually plentiful in the restaurant business. The ability to learn these skills in an encouraging learning environment, with direct customer interaction is a great advantage to our clients. It’s real world experience with a little extra hand.

Mid-Valley strives to assist people with disabilities reach their highest potential and lead fulfilling lives. We have strong roots in this area and would not be able to support our clients without the support of this community. Because of this, we also believe it’s important that the organizations that serve our community members support each other whenever possible.

Serendipity Ice cream provided us with a unique opportunity to do this. Every second Tuesday of the month Serendipity partners with another local not for profit organization, and 25% of our sales that day are donated to that partner. Like us on Facebook or visit our website to find out who we are featuring each month and know that when you come down on a fundraising day you are supporting two non-profits….and your sweet tooth!
