The Student Nutrition and Activity Clinic for Kids (SNACK) announced today that it has been awarded a $40,000 grant from Oregon Community foundation to support free nutrition education for kids in Yamhill County.

“This fund will support important work in our community to improve the health and wellness of our kids, teach them the foundations of nutrition, and build sustainable, lifelong healthy habits,” said Shannon Oddo, MScN, Executive Director, SNACK Program.

The funding included support from the Roy and Diane Marvin Fund, Stuart and Leah Durkheimer Fund, and Clyde and Jerri Doctor Fund of Oregon Community Foundation.

About the SNACK Program
The SNACK Program’s mission is to improve the health and wellness of children and youth in Yamhill County. We offer nutrition education and wellness activities designed to empower children and families to build sustainable, lifelong healthy habits. We strive to maintain equitable access to our services and address the diverse cultural and socioeconomic needs of the families we serve. Our primary service is nutrition education, teaching kids the foundations of nutrition and the importance of building healthy habits. We emphasize a weight-neutral philosophy, focusing on nutrient-dense foods, sustainable habits, and eating mindfully. We offer one-on-one appointments with children and their caregivers, tailoring support to each family’s unique needs. This individualized approach fosters strong relationships and sustainable behavior changes. To accommodate different learning styles, SNACK also provides group nutrition classes in both classroom and kitchen settings. Wellness activities such as yoga, soccer, gardening, and mindfulness complement our nutrition education, offering holistic opportunities for children to improve their physical and emotional wellbeing. Through these services, SNACK empowers children with the tools and knowledge to make informed choices that support lifelong health. For more information about SNACK, please visit: snackprogram.org
