Harvest Fresh was started as a small local produce stand in 1986. It then relocated in 1990 to a larger store on 99W Pacific Hwy, when it merged with the Yamhill county food co-op. Kristin Schofield and Susan Sanford purchased the business in 1994 and expanded its offering of natural food groceries and organic produce. They also added a juice bar and deli.

From those additions, the business grew to be Harvest Fresh Grocery and Deli. With those changes proved so successful that after five years of steady growth, the building was not adequate for the growing business model. In 1999 Harvest Fresh moved to a larger storefront and center in historic Downtown District in McMinnville. The new building that was dated back from 1908. By then, the time came to then expand again with a bigger deli, dining seating, full-service catering, a meat department, more natural groceries and supplements, health and beauty aids and an in-house local bakery.

Harvest Fresh is and has always been a community store. They like to support community services and non-profits whenever they can. As Kristin writes, “we feel it is important to give back to the community that supports us”. They are a local store that likes to not only support its local area but also help sustain the local agriculture.

The original goal of Harvest Fresh has been to provide quality food services and service to be a source for local products: Organic and local produce, healthy- natural and gourmet groceries. Wild fish, grass-fed local meats and to reflect the bounty of the Pacific Northwest.

The McMinnville Chamber of Commerce has helped us connect with the business community through its marketing tools and the personal assistance of the staff, always being available to answer questions no matter what the inquiry might be – from politics to other business services. It is nice to know they are always there for us! McMinnville is a special community – the natural beauty, farming resources and a diverse and loving community.

Harvest Fresh has been in the community of MAC for 23 years and looks forward too many more to come!
