McMinnville, OR. March 8, 2021 – Willamette Valley Medical Center (WVMC) has been named one of the 2021 Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals in the United States by the Chartis Center for Rural Health for the fifth consecutive year. Regarded as the industry’s most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance, the annual Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals award is based upon the results of the Hospital Strength INDEX®.

“This is an incredible win for our team and the community at large,” said Lori Bergen, Chief Executive Officer of WVMC. “Our commitment to excellence has been recognized, meaning the caliber and quality of care we offer ranks among the best in the country. We will continue this trajectory and strive to provide our patients with the best possible experience close to home because we believe that great communities – like this one – deserve great healthcare.”

Based entirely on public data and utilizing 36 independent indicators, the INDEX assesses rural hospitals across eight pillars of performance, including market share, quality, outcomes, patient perspective, cost, charge, and financial efficiency. Hospitals recognized as a Top 100 facility scored in the top 100 among all rural and community hospitals nationally. WVMC was one of only three Oregon hospitals to make the list.

“Our recognition as a Top 100 hospital means you can count on your community healthcare professionals to deliver the services you need now and in the future,” Lori continued.

“To be among those hospitals recognized by this award is a true honor and we want our community to be proud of their hospital and the quality of care that’s available to them right here at home.”
