The McMinnville Economic Development Partnership announces the launch of the McMinnville Works Internship Program on October 4. The McMinnville Economic Development Partnership, the McMinnville Area Chamber of Commerce, the McMinnville City Council and the Board of Comissioners is proud to proclaim October 4 as National Manufacturing Day.

In conjunction with this proclamation, which acknowledges more than 74 manufacturers in McMinnville, MEDP is also excited to announce the launch of the McMinnville Works internship program. During the summer of 2013, MEDP and area businesses partnered with Climax Portable Machining & Welding Systems in Newberg to bring five interns to McMinnville businesses. Starting summer 2014, MEDP will launch its own internship program for McMinnville businesses, specially considering local manufacturers. The paid internship will be open to students ages 17 and above.

The program is currently in development, with an established timeline for the coming months. The first stage of the process will be establishing a solid pool of ten (10) companies in McMinnville by the end of October to commit to hosting an intern for nine weeks during this summer.

Heather Simpson, Marketing Specialist for MEDP and program designer said, “We are very excited to announce this paid internship and anticipate a great pool of business and intern applicants. The program that we have developed for the coming months will make a huge impact on making this internship successful for both the host companies and the interns involved.”
