On July 5th, You have an opportunity to Honor 93-year-old Lt. Colonel Retired Leonard C. DeWitt, a WWII and Korean War Veteran, who also served in Vietnam and the Cold War Army Intelligence, for his bravery and heroism. More than 70 years after he fought in the South Pacific, Medal of Honor nominee, Lt. Col. Retired DeWitt will throw a ceremonial first pitch at the Volcanoes game. He holds the Distinguished Service Cross, Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal, 10 Campaign Medals with four Battle Stars, and two Combat Infantry Badges.
Efforts are being made to construct a statue in McMinnville to Honor Lt. Col. Retired DeWitt and the 41st that fought in WWII. By purchasing tickets to the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes game Saturday, July 5, you will be supporting the effort to Honor DeWitt and the service and sacrifice of our Oregon National Guard. Bring your family and friends to the game so you can add to this special moment of pride for our Heroes! And after the game everyone will enjoy a Fireworks Spectacular!
